The work »still« consists of a series of four video sequences depicting still life images (›moving stills‹).
Four monitors, each showing a small group of people in a department store, waiting for an event. The monitors are arranged in opposite pairs, so that the persons depicted all look on a center in their midst. This is also the position of the viewer of the installation, for which the event itself is not visible. The work explores the expressions of expectation, fulfillment and astonishment.
On four screens arranged side by side various people slowly emerge here and there and then disappear again. The people depicted, who appear to be passengers of public transport, seem to exist in an intermediate state between consciousness and contemplation, in an absence of the external world.
