The basis for this interactive installation is a software programme written by the artist Pure Data, which systematically chops up spoken or sung audio material, randomly erases or doubles parts and mixes everything together. The resulting sequence of text files is played back at random from eight loudspeakers. The process of cutting up, erasing, mixing and playing back is conducted in a number of successive iterations. While the spoken word sequences are still intelligible in the beginning, they become increasingly minimal over the period of the process. In the final iteration they only have of a length of circa 20ms. The installation of eight loudspeakers results in a thoroughly permeating spatial experience in sound. In the first iterations the piece has humorous and dadaist traits, in later iterations it shows features of sound poetry.
