Alba D’Urbano understands her teaching as an art project in itself, a discursive and praxis-oriented platform which forms the basis for the development of the students‘ projects. The viewable or audible works, which are created either by the class as a whole or by the individual class members, form like sediment from a collective processual discourse.
The exhibition „Touch me“ was presented in the Sylvia Bernhardt gallery in Wiesbaden within the framework of the season opening of Wiesbaden’s cultural institutions. For this event the master classes of various German art academies were invited to show works from both professors and their chosen students for a few weeks in multiple gallery spaces and art institutions across the city, with the aim of collectively promoting young art.
The exhibition „Touch me“ presented works of the professors alongside several positions of the students, in which the depiction of the body, the use of performative or action-oriented practices and medial reflection or the appropriation of foreign strategies and gestures were in the forefront of their work.
