Kissing Borders / 2015

Live Performance
A red lipstick, a black marker with permanent ink, a full-length mirror, a wall with a passage, a metall gate closing the passage, an audience.
4 to 5 hours

„WATCHING THE SELF IN THE MIRROR
PUTTING SOME RED LIPSTICK ON
CLOSING GENTLY A GATE TO THE OTHER SIDE OF A WALL
KISSING THE WALL WITH RED LIPS
OPENING GENTLY THE GATE TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WALL

LOCKING THE OTHERS UP
LOCKING THE OTHERS OUT
KEEPING THE OTHERS WAITING
RUSHING THE OTHERS
KISSING THE OTHERS WHO ARE STANDING IN THE PASSAGE

WATCHING THE SELF IN THE MIRROR
PUTTING SOME RED LIPSTICK ON

KISSING THE WALL
5 TIMES
10 TIMES
100 TIMES
1.000 TIMES

CLOSING THE GATE
5 TIMES
10 TIMES
100 TIMES
1.000 TIMES

UNTIL THE GATE IS BROKEN
UNTIL THE BORDER IS OPEN
UNTIL THE BORDER IS SILENT
UNTIL THE BORDER DISSOLVES INTO THE BODY

STANDING IN THE BORDERLANDS WITH A BLACK LINE ON THE FACE
STARTING TO CRY
CRYING ABOUT THEM CELEBRATING UNITY
CRYING ABOUT THEM NOT FEELING THE DIVISION

THEN, FUTURE HAPPENS AND THEY BECOME US:
WE HUG
WE KISS
WE ARE UNITED BY OUR SCARS AND BORDERS
WE ARE MANY
WE ARE ONE“

Pregnant women / 2011

Live Performance
Objects: 1 female pregnant body, straw, an enclosure, a signboard, food
a situation of an art exhibition
Duration: 100/120 min.

In a situation of an art exhibition, I exhibit myself as a pregnant woman as though I am a special species. On a signboard, my species is described in general. Special needs are listed, as well as the appearance of my species. The hours of my feeding are announced. I eat, play with the food, hide the food, rest, sleep and mirror the curiosity of the visitors by gazing at them.

Beta Vulgaris / 2010

Live Performance
Objects: freshly squeezed beetroot juice, 2 parcels, scissors, 1 long white flexible board, tracks (closed), 1 female body in a white dress, rain
Duration: 20 min.

Live Performance. Photo taken by Torsten Adrian

In this rite of passage I am standing on a platform placed over tracks. In the middle of the white board I open two parcels which contain two different kinds of kitchen aprons. I put one of them on the right way and the other one the wrong way.
With a scream in between shouting and singing, I pour thick beetroot juice over my head and the kitchen aprons. The white changes to red. It starts to rain.
I try to get to the other side of the board, but I fail as it is too wet. I walk backwards along the tracks.
I try to arrange my hair, without success. I leave the space.

In Earth /2010

Live Performance
Objects: A lot of apples, 1 female body in a black dress, a hole in the ground, a song
Duration: 1 hour / 40 min.

Lyrics for the performance „In Earth“:
“If I were a little bird
and if I had wings
I would fly to you
but because that cannot be
but because that cannot be
I´ll stay right here”

No dress / 2007

Photographies
Objects: 1 red dress, 1 female body

The element “woman” is one part of my identity. In “No dress”, a dress forms a mask which hides my eyes, my mouth, my whole face, my body. The viewers of the photographs don´t see me without the dress mask. However, they see a small opening in the mask: The body is turned towards the viewers. The eye can see and is seen.
